Simpson is Winton Woods High School's all-time leading rusher. He was named Division II 2nd Team All-District as a senior. He rushed for 1,148 yards and 7 TD's as a senior. Those numbers were way down for him, and many schools stopped recruiting him because of it. He had 1,578 yards and 22 TD's as a junior, and 1,143 yards and 10 TD's as a sophomore. The kid has a lot of potential and has breakaway speed. As a sophomore in high school, he rushed 19 times for 402 yards and 5 TD's in one game.

This is the time of year that Rocket football coaches are hitting the recruiting trail, gaining new committments and holding onto those that have already committed before. Looking around the Internet, Toledo currently has nine potential recruits that have publicly announced they will sign a national letter of intent to play football at the University of Toledo. Most likely there are other committments that have not made their decisions public though. Full Story

National Championship Game Thoughts
January 11th, 2007
By Mike Sopher

It was a night many Ohioans want to forget. It was a night when everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. It was a night when those John Cougar Mellencamp lyrics to “Crumblin’ Down” really fit perfectly:

When the walls come tumblin' down
When the walls come crumblin' crumblin'
When the walls come tumblin' tumblin' down Full Story

What I am Thankful for
November 22nd, 2006
By Mike Sopher

I’ll take 5-7 over 4-8 any day but last night was not about the records. It was about beating your rival, your arch enemy— the team you are expected to beat each season. In many aspects, this season was hard to swallow. Most expected 8-9 wins with another bowl trip and possible conference title shot. But last night left us with a smile. It didn’t salvage the season but it is something to build on for 2007. So, Rocket fans must put aside their frustrations for a little bit and reflect on the good notes of the 2006 season. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, this will be my second edition of what “I am thankful for.”

I am thankful for Jalen Parmalee. He ran over Bowling Green and pretty much the last four opponents for a 1,000 yard season. He is tough, agile, and a quick back who should repeat this year’s performance as a senior. Full Story
