2007 Football Recruiting The following is a list of prospective student-athletes who have shown an interest in playing football at the University of Toledo after they graduate high school. This in no way means that the individual will commit or sign a letter of intent with the University of Toledo and information on this page is subject to change. Ryan Kelly (DB, 5-9, 183, San Mateo, CA-San Mateo CC) Ryan Kelly will be a sophomore at San Mateo CC this fall. He will graduate this December, so he will be able to enroll in January. He has interest from Toledo, UNLV, San Jose State, Fresno State, and Iowa State. So far, he has only received an offer from Toledo. Ben Burkett (OL, 6-4, 260, Toledo, OH-St John's Jesuit HS) Ben Burkett is a local kid that will be a senior at St John's Jesuit High School this fall. He has received offers from Toledo, Miami University, and Akron. David Legree (QB, 6-5, 210, Brooklyn, NY-South Shore HS) David Legree is a tall quarterback with a very strong arm. He threw for 1,483 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior last season, earning All New York City honors. Legree also has some quick feet and is a threat to run the football. He has received offers from Toledo, Duke, and Temple and is receiving strong interest from Rutgers and Syracuse. Myles Caragein (DE, 6-3, 260, Pittsburgh, PA-Keystone Oaks HS) Myles Caragein has good size and good speed, running a 4.8 forty. He had 68 tackles, 14 for loss with 8 sacks, as a junior last season. He has received offers from Toledo, Indiana, North Carolina State, Northwestern, and Pittsburgh. Frank Edmonds (RB, 5-8, 187, Lakewood, OH-St Edward HS) Frank Edmonds is a small running back that runs a 4.4 forty and has excellent moves. He rushed for 2,134 yards and 23 touchdowns last fall as a junior, averaging 9.0 yards per rush. He has an offer from Toledo. Aaron Williams (LB, 6-1, 198, Pittsburgh, PA-Penn Hills SHS) Aaron Williams is a strong linebacker from Penn Hills SHS in Pittsburgh, PA. He has received an offer from Toledo. He has been receiving interest from Toledo, UCONN, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, West Virginia, Iowa, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. Lamont Smith (DB/RB, 5-9, 170, Pittsburgh, PA-Central Catholic HS) Lamont Smith is a quick athlete, 4.5 in the forty, that could play defensive back or running back. He has offers from Toledo, Arizona State, Colorado, Temple, and Virginia. BJ Cunningham (WR, 6-1, 185, Westerville, OH-South HS) BJ Cunningham is a quick receiver, 4.4 in the forty, from Westerville South High School. Former Rocket Lance Moore, and current Rockets Nick Moore, Steve Odom, and Robin Bailey are all wide receivers that went to Westerville South. BJ Cunningham has offers from Toledo, Akron, and Cincinnati. Jerry Legranvil (OL, 6-5, 315, Torrance, CA-El Camino CC) Jerry Legranvil is a big offensive tackle from El Camino CC in Torrance, CA. He will be a sophomore this fall and have two years of eligibility. He has received an offer from Toledo. Brody Dixon (OL, 6-4, 305, Palatine, IL-Harper College) Brody Dixon is a strong offensive guard from Harper College in Palatine, IL. He will be a sophomore this fall and have two years of eligibility left. He has received offers from Toledo and Miami University. Kevin Kowalski (OL, 6-4, 270, Macedonia, OH-Nordonia HS) Kevin Kowalski is a decent sized offensive lineman that will likely play center or guard in college. He has offers from Toledo, Akron, Bowling Green, Indiana, and Illinois. Carson Byrd (DE, 6-2, 255, Trotwood, OH-Trotwood Madison HS) Carson Byrd is a quick defensive end, 4.75 in the forty, from Trotwood Madison High School in Trotwood, OH. He has received offers from Toledo, Akron, and Ohio University. Brian Thomas (DT, 6-2, 280, Chicago, IL-Hubbard HS) Brian Thomas is a big defensive tackle from Hubbard High School in Chicago, IL. He has offers from Toledo, Ball State, Mississippi State, and New Mexico. Diaunte Morrow (S, 6-0, 185, Lakewood, OH-St Edward HS) Diaunte Morrow is a safety from St Edwards High School in Lakewood, OH. He runs a 4.6 in the forty yard dash. He has offers from Toledo, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Gino Gradkowski (OL, 6-4, 275, Pittsburgh, PA-Seton LaSalle HS) Gino is the brother of Rocket QB Bruce Gradkowski. Considered one of the best offensive lineman in the WPIAL, Gino already has offers from Toledo, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia. He was named WPIAL 1st Team defense as a defensive lineman and WPIAL 2nd Team offense as an offensive lineman as a junior in 2005. He is expected to reveive several Division I-A scholarship offers. Rocco Pentello (QB/S, 6-0, 190, Westerville, OH-South HS) Rocco Pentello has 4.55 speed and has a 3.5 GPA. His high school coach says that he has quick feet and will probably be a safety in college. According to Rivals.com, Pentello received a scholarship offer from Toledo back in early 2005. His father told BuckeyePlanet.com that despite Rocco's interest in other school, his family is 100% Buckeye and he will be going to Ohio State. So far he does not have an offer from Ohio State though. It has been rumored that he has interest from Toledo, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Florida State, Alabama, and Oklahoma. Chris Hinkley (QB, 6-2, 200, Juneau, AK-Juneau-Douglas) Juneau-Douglas won the 2005 Alaska (Big School) State Championship behind QB Chris Hinkley. It was Juneau-Douglas' 1st ever state championship. Hinkley was 1st Team All-State in Alaska, Offensive Player of the Year in Alaska, and Gatorade Alaska Player of the Year in 2005 as a junior. He set a new state passing record with 2,289 yards passing and a new state touchdown record with 37 TD passes. He also set a school record with 6 touchdown passes in one game, which happened to be the state semifinal game. He was named to the Prepnation.com's 101 All-Nation Team as one of the top 101 high school players in the nation in 2005. In the 1st game of the season, Hinkley was 17 of 26 for a school record 287 yards and 4 TD's. Threw for 2,289 yards and 37 TD's in 11 games. He owns all but one school passing record with still his senior season to go. This was on a team that had a running back that averaged 8.6 ypc for the season and had 351 yards rushing in the state championship game. As a sophomore in 2004, Hinkley was 2nd in passing yards in the state of Alaska. He is described as a very accurate passer with a great football mind. Wears #17. Robbie Frey (RB, 6-0, 185, Lehighton, PA-Lehighton HS) Robbie ran for a school record 2,272 yards on 315 carries (7.2 ypc) as a junior in 2005. He averaged 206.5 yards per game. He had 25 TD's, which included two kick returns for touchdowns. He set the school record for rushing yards in a season and in a game. He had 324 yards rushing in the season opener. He was named the team MVP. He was named to the AP Pennsylvania Class AAA All-State First Team and selected by the Times News as their 2005 Football Player of the Year as well. Blue Ridge Cable named him the Friday Night Player of the Year. Frey had 3 touchdowns that went 90 yards or more and 16 touchdowns that went 20 yards or more. For the season, he caught 5 passes for 147 yards and 2 TD's. He also had 2 kick returns for 169 yards and 2 TD's. His high school coaching staff have clocked him at 4.44 in the forty. He attended the Penn State camp last summer and was clocked at 4.51 and at the Ed Ruiz Speed Camp he was clocked at 4.48 in the forty, so he appears to have speed somewhere in the 4.45-4.50 range. Bruce Davis (LB, 6-0, 190, Cleveland, OH-Glenville HS) Bruce Davis is a transfer to Glenville high school from Benedictine. He has been mentioned on bucknuts.com as an underclassmen to keep an eye on. On scout.com he lists interest in Toledo, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Ohio, and Eastern Michigan. Curtis McGriff (DB, 5-11, 175, Pittsburgh, PA-Shaler Area HS) Curtis McGriff is a wide receiver and defensive back out of Pittsburgh, PA. On Scout.com he lists interest in Toledo, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Bowling Green, and Akron. Darris Sawtelle (OL, 6-5, 285, Bloomfield, MI-Brother Rice HS) Darris is listed by Scout.com as a 5 star recruit and the 4th best junior in the state of Michigan. Rivals.com does not have him rated yet, but lists several schools that he has an interest in. They are Toledo, Tennessee, Purdue, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, Boston College, and Auburn. His high school coach said that he already has the size of a college lineman and that college football is in his blood. His grandfather and three uncles all played college football. Right now he has offers from Toledo, Michigan, and Tennessee. He has verabally committed to Tennessee. |
